11 years married. 17 years together. What have we learned?
I heard Jordan Fleary Chair of Anti-Racist Cumbria compare marriage to anti-racism and it peaked my interest.
Not least because I used to run a media platform and wedding show - Nu Bride, celebrating Black and multicultural love, in an industry that did not much care for us. Not least because this led me to being invited to attend the wedding of Harry and Meghan in 2018 as a media expert. Not least because when everyone was talking about what dress Meghan was wearing, I was talking about what it might mean for a woman of colour to marry into the Royal Family - an institution steeped in colonial legacy and where wealth was amassed from the slave trade (we know how that panned out).
